WHL TUESDAY NIGHT RECAP - Nigel Dawes' second-period power play marker stood up as the winner as the visiting Kootenay Ice (http://www.kootenayice.net/) beat the Everett Silvertips (http://www.everettsilvertips.com/) 4-2 in one of four Western Hockey League contests on Tuesday night.

Casey lee tallied a goal and two assists for the Ice while Jeff Glass made 27 saves in the win. The victory improves the Ice to 26-13-4-0 and moves them to within two points of Kelowna for top spot in the B.C. division.

Shaun Heshka and Mitch Love tallied for the 'Tips in the loss. With the defeat, Everett slips to 20-14-6-2 and remains second in the U.S. division.

Elsewhere last night, Braydon Coburn netted the winner to lead the visiting Portland Winter Hawks (http://www.winterhawks.com/) to a 5-2 win over the Regina Pats (http://www.reginapats.com/).

Sasha Golin and Kyle Bailey each tallied a goal and an assist for the Hawks while Dustin Butler turned in a 30-save performance for the win. The victory improves Portland to 18-19-3-4 and keeps them in third spot in the U.S. division.

Kyle Ermel netted his first career WHL goal for the Pats in the loss while Ian Duval also tallied. The defeat leaves the Pats at 11-26-2-4 and keeps them fourth in the East division.

In Kennewick, Aaron Gagnon scored the winner to lead the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds (http://www.seattlethunderbirds.com/) to a 3-1 win over the Tri-City Americans (http://www.amshockey.com/) last night.

Ladislav Scurko tallied for the T-birds while David Lindsey scored his first WHL goal in the win. The victory - Seattle's fourth straight - improves them to 29-10-0-1 and gives them an 11-point lead over Everett for top spot in the U.S. division.

Shane Gimas tallied the lone goal for the Ams in the loss. With the defeat, Tri-City falls to 15-18-4-2 and remains tied with Spokane for fourth in the U.S. division.

In other action Tuesday night, Tim Kraus netted the winner as the Vancouver Giants (http://www.vancouvergiants.com/) downed the visiting Prince George Cougars (http://www.pgcougars.com/) 4-1.

Gilbert Brule and Adam Courchaine each chipped in two assists for the Giants while Marek Schwarz stopped 22 shots. The win improves the Giants to 23-17-1-2 and keeps them comfortably in third place in the B.C. division.

Curtis Cooper tallied the lone goal for the Cougars in the loss. The defeat leaves the Cougars at 18-21-3-1 and fourth in the B.C. division.
