The Portland Winter Hawks traded F Sasha Golin to the Kamloops Blazers in exchange for F Matt Schmermund.

Golin is in his third year with the Winter Hawks, posting (1-6-7) with 48 penalty minutes in 39 games. Schmermund, in his first year in the WHL with Kamloops, had (6-5-11) with a +5 rating and 20 penalty minutes in 34 games this season.
“We like Matt’s speed and his potential upside,” said Portland Coach Mike Williamson. “He will get a chance to prove himself here in our current situation with so many first-year players. We wish Sasha well. He is a great young man and gets as fresh start closer to home.”
