Not only will western Manitoba hockey fans attending this Friday's Western Hockey League game between the Wheat Kings and Regina Pats have the opportunity to see the hottest team in the league, they will also have the chance to collecte a complete set of this year's player cards.

The Wheat Kings, in conjunction with Systek Solutions, are pleased to announce that the first 2,500 fans attanding Friday night's game at the Keystone Centre will receive a complete set of 2004-05 player cards.

The full color cards, produced by Leech Printing, will feature all twenty-four Wheat Kings including WHL scoring leader Eric Fehr, all star center Ryan Stone and the two newest members of Brandon's 300-game club - Lance Monych and captain Tim Konsorada.

The cards have been made possible through the generous support of United Commercial Travellers, Maple Leaf and Heritage Co-op. This year's full color action photos were taken by Colin Corneau of the Brandon Sun.

The Wheat Kings first ever set of player cards were distributed to fans during the 1983-84 campaign and featured future National Hockey League stars as goalkeeper Ron Hextall and high scoring center Ray Ferraro. The first ever set also included current Wheat Kings' assistant coach Brad Wells and all star defenceman Cam Plante, the father of current Brandon netminder Tyler.

Winners of eleven of their last 12 games, the Wheat Kings will be putting a 9-game winning streak on the line Friday. The Wheat Kings enter the weekend with a record of 35-19-5-1 and a share of top spot in the WHL's Eastern Division with the Saskatoon Blades.

A five year WHL veteran who played in his 300th career game Wednesday night in Winnipeg, Konsorada enters Friday's game riding a 12-game point scoring streak.
