The Tri-City Americans received official papers from the International Ice Hockey Federation on Thursday that officially clear 20-year-old defenseman Roman Teslyuk (pronounced Tez-luke) to play for the team.

Teslyuk was obtained last week in a deal with the Kamloops Blazers.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound native of Murmansk, Russia, had been playing for the Reading (Pa.) Royals of the ECHL this season. In 24 games Teslyuk had four goals, six points and 32 penalty minutes.

Last season for the Blazers, Teslyuk appeared in all 72 games and tallied a career-best 14 goals and 30 points.

Teslyuk will make his Americans debut Saturday night in Spokane against the Chiefs.
