Broncos Defeat Birds In Shootout
JAN 16 - The Swift Current Broncos played their way to a hard fought 2-1 shootout win on Tuesday night against the Seattle Thunderbirds, the only matchup between the two teams this season. A goaltenders dual saw Travis Yonkman make some key saves down the stretch, eventually making 36 stops on the night.

Jeremy Schenderling scored on the power play for the Broncos, his team leading 8th power play goal of the season, and that held the lead for the Broncos until Bud Hollaway scored with just 1:16 left in the game to send it to a shootout.

It would take a 5th round to settle the shootout where Broncos Assistant Captain Zack Smith went off of the post and in past Derek Yeomans to empty the Broncos bench and send the fans home in a frenzy.

Yonkman has now been a force for the Broncos in his last 2 games in goal, making 84 saves on 87 shots. His strong efforts have boosted his save percentage to .907, good for 11th in the WHL.

The Broncos next action goes this Friday night when they travel to Moose Jaw while their next home game is Sunday night at 7:00pm when they host the Calgary Hitmen. The Sunday game means it's another Never Wasted Ticket Game Night and any unused ticket from the 2006/07 season can be redeemed for a ticket to the game that night for just $5. For more information or to order your tickets, call the Broncos Ticket Hotline at 773-1509.
