I must be blind because I can't seem to find out which Giants are going to the under 17 tourney.

The main site is useless and doesn't have that info in their news archive, and I looked on the CHL site, but didn't see a link.

Anybody know or have a link or both?

It will run for little better than a week. Giants will be without them for likely three games maybe four. Only home date in there is the Calgary game.

Hay has said on the radio that he will send out a SOS as they will be down to ten forwards (Bliznak wouldn't be ready and Hunt done). Maybe Toigo can play up front. Likely could see Piluso for a few games and maybe Kane depending on their schedules.

so to clarify nivek-wahs the under 17 players are going to the Canada Winter Games and not a separate tournament? How do the line-ups breakdown as I assume the players would then represent their province -- or do they anyway?

I must admit this stuff really isn't on my radar and I was only vaguely aware of an under 17 hockey tourney (which I assumed was international) , so excuse my ignorance.

53 WHL Players To Participate In 2007 Canada Winter Games

When the 2007 Canada Winter Games' Men's Hockey tournament kicks off February 24th in Whitehorse, NWT, fans will notice a distinct WHL flavor on the rosters from the country's four western-most provinces.

The Men's Hockey tournament, one of 22 events at the Canada Winter Games, features teams from 10 Canadian provinces and two territories. Rosters are made up from amateur players who were under 17 years of age on December 31st, 2006.

The four western-most provinces - British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba - boast a total of 53 players who have played at least one game in the Western Hockey League. A large number of those players are currently on the active roster of a WHL team.

The roster for Team B.C. consists of 17 players who currently play or have played in the WHL this season. Among those who will suit up for Team B.C. is Everett Silvertips rookie forward Kyle Beach, who currently leads all 16-year-old rookies in the WHL with 25 goals this season, and Regina Pats' rookie defenseman Colten Teubert, who was the first overall pick in the 2005 Bantam Draft.

A pair of Prince Albert Raiders rookies - defenseman Blaine Tendler and forward Jordan Trach - are among 15 WHL-seasoned players who will suit up for Team Saskatchewan. The Saskatchewan roster also boasts four players who were among the top 10 picks in the 2006 Bantam Draft including defenseman Jared Cowen, picked first overall by Spokane, and Kamloops Blazers' prospect Jimmy Bubnick, whose two older brothers, Michael and Jonathan, both played in the WHL as well.

Team Alberta boasts 12 players with WHL experience, including Regina Pats' rookie Jordan Eberle, who has already scored 23 goals this season as a 16-year-old first-year player. Both goaltenders for Team Alberta - Jacob DeSerres (Seattle) and Dalyn Flette (Kamloops) - play their hockey in the WHL.

Team Manitoba has nine WHL players on the roster. Lethbridge Hurricanes' rearguard Travis Bobbee heads up a Team Manitoba defense corps that consists of six players who are on the active roster of a WHL team.

The preliminary round robin for the Canada Winter Games' Men's Hockey tournament begins on February 24th in Whitehorse, NTW. The Bronze and Gold medal games will take place on Friday, March 2nd.

These western teams should do well...I wonder what the other 8 teams will look like? Too bad they're making Eberle play for Alberta! Who makes that decision, anyway? Hockey Canada? Or is it the Winter Games people? Ah well.
