Blades Continue Swing Through Lethbridge
Written by Les Lazaruk - 600 Action News - Local First
Friday, 09 March 2007The Saskatoon Blades will visit another team just as desperate as they are to make the playoffs Friday night in Lethbridge.
The Hurricanes have a winning record and are among the top 5 teams in the WHL in goals scored. But, the 'Canes play in the ultra-tight Central Division where their 32-31-2-and-3 record leaves them 5th and last, 4 points back of 4th place Red Deer.

Two main reasons for their situation could be found in a 4th worst defensive record and the 19th rated penalty kill that has allowed 104 opposition powerplay goals.

Saskatoon will have a full defence corps Friday. Mike Clements will be back in a Blades' jersey, recalled from Delta of the Pacific International Junior 'B' League. He started the season with the Bridge City Bunch, recording a single assist in 18 games, before being sent down in December.

Clements will join Brad Cole, Teigan Zahn, Joe Logan, Sam Klassen and Brett Ward on the Saskatoon blue line.

The Blades will need to end their 0-for-34 powerplay streak in order to win and possibly move closer to Prince Albert in the East Division. The Blades trail the 4th place Raiders by 6 points. P-A is in Brandon again.

HOT-93's broadcast from Lethbridge starts at 7:30pm with "The Cutting Edge" pregame show.

Glad to see Clement back for tonights game, or the rest of the season, depending if his Junior B team is finished. I would like to see if he has improved much over the year. He was pretty shaky for us at the begining, but another season of playing at the junior level can really pump up a WHL prospect up to get back in!

Good luck boys, you are gonna need it!
