The Swift Current Broncos completed the eight game season series sweep of the Prince Albert Raiders on Sunday night. Playing their third game in as many nights the Broncos downed the struggling Raiders 2-1 to hamper their playoff aspirations as they battle with Moose Jaw and Saskatoon for the fourth and final playoff spot in the WHL's East Division.
The Broncos entered the game coming off two emotional home ice wins over Division leaders Medicine Hat and Brandon on Friday and Saturday night, but were without the services of injured players Levi Nelson, Brady Leavold, Matt Tassone, and Spencer McAvoy for Sunday night's game in Prince Albert. The Broncos got a strong performance in goal from Kyle Moir and goals from Dale Weise and Jeremy Schenderling in the victory which clinched third place and a playoff date with the Regina Pats.
The Broncos opened the scoring with only 30 seconds remaining in the first period when Dale Weise notched his 18th goal of the season. Weise's 18 goals this season match his total point output in 53 games with the Broncos after being acquired from the Medicine Hat Tigers as a 17-year-old last season. The 18-year-old Weise now has 42 points in 65 games this season.
The Raiders tied the game 1-1 when Ryan Depape beat Kyle Moir for his 24th goal of the season midway through the middle frame.
Broncos leading goal scorer Jeremy Schenderling scored the game-winning goal on the powerplay midway through the final frame. The overage forward has now picked up points in five straight games and eight of his past nine games. Schenderling has registered six points during his five game point streak.
Broncos goaltender Kyle Moir stopped 30 of 31 shots improving his record to 20-27-0-1. The win marks the fourth straight season that Moir has reached the 20 win plateau with the Broncos.
The loss dropped Deckert's record to 19-25-1-2 while stopping 33 shots. Deckert was attempting to win 20 games for the first time in his WHL career.
The Broncos' third straight win improves their season record to 32-35-1-2, nine points ahead of Prince Albert.
The Raiders' fourth consecutive loss drops their record to 26-37-3-3 only one point ahead of fifth place Moose Jaw and four points ahead of the Saskatoon Blades. Each team has three games remaining in their schedule to grab hold of the final playoff spot and a date with the East leading Brandon Wheat Kings.
The Broncos will now have four days to recuperate before ending their regular season with a home and away series with the Moose Jaw Warriors. Friday the Broncos will host the Warriors at the Centennial Civic Centre. Saturday the Broncos will head up the Trans Canada Highway to meet the Warriors in their 72nd and final game of the season.

The Raiders are a big reason why we are in the playoffs (in third place) and the Raiders are in a dog fight. With that said i wish we could play them in the playoffs
