Calgary, AB – The 2007 WHL Bantam Draft Lottery is set to take place at the Western Hockey League Office in Calgary, Alberta on Thursday, March 22nd, 2007 at 11:00 MST.

The Bantam Draft Lottery will involve the five non-playoff teams from the 2006-07 season, along with the expansion franchise Edmonton Oil Kings, and will determine the order of the first six picks in the 1st round of the WHL Bantam Draft.

The Lottery will use a total of 21 balls and the allotment of balls will be as follows:

Portland Winter Hawks - Six balls
Kelowna Rockets - Five balls
Edmonton Oil Kings - Four balls
Saskatoon Blades - Three balls
Moose Jaw Warriors - Two balls
Lethbridge Hurricanes - One ball

A team can move up a maximum of two positions in the Bantam Draft. Only one ball is drawn in the Lottery.

The following are the scenarios that can take place following the Lottery selection:

i. If Portland wins the lottery, Portland will have the first pick, Kelowna will have the second pick, Edmonton will have the third pick, Saskatoon will have the fourth pick, Moose Jaw will have the fifth pick and Lethbridge will have the sixth pick in the first round of the WHL Bantam Draft.

ii. If Kelowna wins the lottery, Kelowna will have the first pick, Portland will have the second pick, Edmonton will have the third pick, Saskatoon will have the fourth pick, Moose Jaw will have the fifth pick and Lethbridge will have the sixth pick in the first round of the WHL Bantam Draft.

iii. If Edmonton wins the lottery, Edmonton will have the first pick, Portland will have the second pick, Kelowna will have the third pick, Saskatoon will have the fourth pick, Moose Jaw will have the fifth pick and Lethbridge will have the sixth pick in the first round of the WHL Bantam Draft.

iv. If Saskatoon wins the lottery, Portland will have the first pick, Saskatoon will have the second pick, Kelowna will have the third pick, Edmonton will have the fourth pick, Moose Jaw will have the fifth pick and Lethbridge will have the sixth pick in the first round of the WHL Bantam Draft.

v. If Moose Jaw wins the lottery, Portland will have the first pick, Kelowna will have the second pick, Moose Jaw will have the third pick, Edmonton will have the fourth pick, Saskatoon will have the fifth pick and Lethbridge will have the sixth pick in the first round of the WHL Bantam Draft

vi. If Lethbridge wins the lottery, Portland will have the first pick, Kelowna will have the second pick, Edmonton will have the third pick, Lethbridge will have the fourth pick, Saskatoon will have the fifth pick and Moose Jaw will have the sixth pick in the first round of the WHL Bantam Draft.

The Lottery only applies to the first round of the WHL Bantam Draft. For each round following the first round, WHL teams shall draft in the inverse order of final regular season standings with Edmonton receiving the first pick.
