Broncos vs. Pats - Round 1
MAR 21 - The Swift Current Broncos, for the first time since the 2001/02 season, will be facing a team other than the Medicine Hat Tigers in the 1st round of the WHL Playoffs.

The Broncos will be facing the Regina Pats in the opening series of this year's playoffs as the #3 and #2 seeds respectively. The series will get started in Regina on Friday night at 7:00pm and is available to be watched online at www.whl.ca or listened to by clicking on the broadcast tab on www.scbroncos.com.

The playoff matchup is the first between the two teams since the 1992/93 Conference finals that saw the Broncos sweep the Pats 4-0 to advance to the WHL Championship where they eventually defeated the Portland Winter Hawks in a 7th and deciding game to advance to the Memorial Cup.

In 2006/07, the teams will once again lock horns after facing off against each other 8 times during the regular season. Offense has not been a problem between these two teams this season. Despite Regina winning by a 1-0 score on February 3rd, the teams still averaged a combined 6.75 goals per game with Regina outscoring the Broncos 32-22 in the regular season. The Pats also outshot the Broncos in the regular season meetings by a count of 264-212. The Broncos power play managed to score 7 times against Regina on 51 opportunities for a 13.73% success rate while the Broncos penalty kill was an even 80.0% against Regina in 2006/07. Jeremy Schenderling and David Stieler each had 4 goals against Regina this season while Michael Wilson had a team best 5 assists. Jordan Eberle had 5 goals against the Broncos this year while Garrett Festerling had 10 assists.

The Broncos are entering this year's playoffs on a strong note after closing out the season with 7 wins in their final 10 games thanks to some key performances. Jeremy Schenderling did not dress in the team’s final regular season game, however, was on a 6 game point streak to close off his season with 4 goals and 3 assists in that stretch. Meanwhile European forward David Stieler had his 5 game point streak snapped last Saturday night. During his streak, Stieler recorded 2 goals and 6 assists. Defenseman Paul Postma finished off the season with a career high 4 game point streak including his first career Western Hockey League hat trick on March 16th. Postma has 3 goals and 4 assists in his last 4 games. Kyle Bortis was a model of consistency for the Broncos at the end of the season. In his final 17 games, despite recording just 2 multi-point performances, Bortis recorded 8 goals and 6 assists.

Games 3 and 4 will be in Swift Current on March 27th and 28th. Season ticket holders will have until 4:00pm on Friday, March 23rd to purchase their playoff tickets before they are released to the general public. Playoff 10 packs are available for $180 for season ticket holders.

Walkup ticket prices for the playoffs are $19 (adults), $11 (students), and $9 (children).
