Vancouver Giants @ Chilliwack Bruins
Wednesday March 28th, 2007
Prospera Centre
7 pm PDT

The Bruins allowed themselves to be shutout at home and they are not going to be pleased. Expect them to ramp up the intensity tonight and try to tie the series at home. The top line for the Bruins looked fairly ordinary as the Giants defense and goaltending stepped it up a notch or two in game three. The Bruins need to get their PP going again and stifle the Giants as they did in games one and two.

The Giants went undefeated last season in the playoffs on the road, their two losses on the way to the WHL Championship trophy both occurred while the Giants were playing at home. Milan Luicic got on his horse last night for the first time this series and lead the Giants to their dominating 4-0 victory. Tyson Sexsmith ceased to be a sieve that looked to have no business being between the pipes in games one and two to being a very solid presence in the blue ice throughout game three. Tim Kraus will be back in the line-up and should add some play-making skill to the mix.

I think the Giants are done playing and although this game could be a harder fought battle the Bruins are very unlikely to see the Giants from games one and two again. The G-Men made adjustments and are more confident going to the net and working through the clutching and blanket collapse they encountered during the first two games. The Vancouver squad needs to bring the intensity and fight they brought in game three and work the Bruins hard and low in their own zone coughing up pucks while avoiding dumb penalties. I do not envision the bruins being able to squeak out any more games and any they win from now on will not be the result of poor goaltending or sloppy PK-ing.

The Giants are hoping to lead 3-1 after tonight bringing it home for game five. The Bruins are desiring a split to push the series to at least six games. The game should be a bit closer than we saw in game three and depending on who has more intensity could go either way.

Can somebody move Hunt24's preview thread for this game from the GM3 thread? thanks.

1st period intermission

1-0 Giants (McArdle -- Bliznak and Mikkelson)

After one period the Bruins were lucky to come out only down by one. The Giants brought a hard nosed game to the fore for most of the first buzzing the Chilliwack net and titling the ice towards Archie, who made some very good stops in the first.

Oddly enough shots were even (8) despite the teams spending the majority of the period in the Chilliwack zone.

What ever happens Friday, I hope the Bruins and their fans throw Archie a parade. He has earned it and then some.
