All though i am sure he would still be in the playoffs, he is still playing hockey. He has made the U-18 squad that is heading out to Finland later this week.

CALGARY (CP) - Canada's roster for the men's world under-18 hockey championship includes several players expected to be top picks in this year's NHL entry draft.

Forwards Angelo Esposito of the Quebec Remparts, Kyle Turris of the Burnaby Express and Brandon Sutter of the Red Deer Rebels plus goaltender Trevor Cann of the Peterborough Petes were among the 22 players named Thursday by Hockey Canada for the April 11-22 event in Tampere and Rauma, Finland.

Esposito is the top-ranked North American skater by NHL Central Scouting while Turris and Sutter are both in the top 10. Cann is the top-ranked North American goaltender.

The Canadian team was to depart for Helsinki on Thursday to begin preparation for their opening game against Germany on April 12.

The roster consists of Canadian players born in 1989 or later whose club teams did not make the post-season, or lost in the first round of playoffs.

Former NHL coach and player Trent Yawney is the team's head coach.

Hockey Canada runs two national under-18 men's teams in the calendar year: one for the world championship every April and the other for the annual summer international tournament.

The world championship team includes 13 players who were part of Canada's summer under-18 team that won gold at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial in Slovakia and Czech Republic in August, 2006. Esposito was captain of that team.

The summer team includes all of Canada's top players in the age group.

Like the men's senior world championship, not all of them are available for the world championship because many are in playoffs with their respective club teams.

Canada won gold at the world under-18 championship in 2003 and took the silver in 2005.
