HOCKEY CANADA ANNOUNCES ROSTER FOR WORLD UNDER-18 CHAMPIONSHIP IN FINLAND -- Hockey Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Hockey League, announced on Wednesday the 22 players who will make up Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team that will compete at the 2007 IIHF World Under-18 Championship in Tampere and Rauma, Finland between April 11th and 22nd. The team will include Saskatoon Blades centre Colton Gillies and netminder Braden Holtby.

Canada’s Under-18 team is made up of the best available players born in 1989 or later who aren’t competing in playoffs with their respective club teams. Many of the players named today will be among the top selections at the 2007 NHL Entry Draft in June.
Canada’s head coach Trent Yawney and assistant coaches Jeff Truitt (Kelowna, WHL) and Mike Stapleton (Erie, OHL) will lead the team into Finland. The coaching staff, along with Jim Hammett, Hockey Canada’s Head Scout for Men’s National Teams, worked together to finalize the roster.

Canada’s goaltenders will be Trevor Cann (Oakville, ON/Peterborough, OHL) and Braden Holtby (Marshall, SK/Saskatoon, WHL).

The team’s defence will be made up of Eric Doyle (Calgary, AB/Swift Current, WHL), Yann Sauvé (Rigaud, QC/Saint John, QMJHL), Luke Schenn (Saskatoon, SK/Kelowna, WHL), John Negrin (West Vancouver, BC/Kootenay, WHL), Mark Katic (Porcupine, ON/Sarnia, OHL), Drew Doughty (London, ON/Guelph, OHL) and Alex Grant (Antigonish, NS/Saint John, QMJHL).

Finally, Team Canada’s offence consists of Keven Veilleux (St-Georges, QC/Victoriaville, QMJHL), Angelo Esposito (Montreal, QC/Quebec, QMJHL), Kyle Turris (New Westminster, BC/Burnaby, BCHL), Jamie Arniel (Kingston, ON/Guelph, OHL), Brandon Sutter (Red Deer, AB/Red Deer, WHL), Zachary Boychuk (Airdrie, AB/Lethbridge, WHL), Colton Gillies (Surrey, BC/Saskatoon, WHL), Yves Bastien (Dowling, ON/Peterborough, OHL), Steven Stamkos (Unionville, ON/Sarnia, OHL), Dion Knelsen (Three Hills, AB/Alaska-Fairbanks, NCAA), Logan Couture (London, ON/Ottawa, OHL), Zack Torquato (Sault Ste. Marie, ON/Erie, OHL) and Olivier Fortier (Quebec City, QC/Rimouski, QMJHL).

Team Canada includes 13 players who were part of Canada’s Summer Under-18 team which won gold at the Junior World Cup in Slovakia and Czech Republic in August 2006.

That's great, congrats to them, Gillies needs to take less penalties though but Holtby I am most impressed with, congrats to both anyways.
