Willie Desjardins. When Tiger ownership woke up to the fact that they need to hire good hockey people in their coaching, scouting and general manager positions things changed for the good. Willie has brought a system for winning and turned things around quickly. Back in the day when we were hiring whoever cost the least, the arena was getting 1200-1500 midweek and 2500-3000 on weekends. How things have changed!!!

Just a total attitude change through the entire organization. It used to be that Maser thought that he could sell tickets with a team that couldn't compete. He fired the entire scouting staff (without replacing them) and told whoever he hired as GM that instead of scouting to just phone around to various head coaches and ask what they thought of various players. He refused to spend money on decent GM's and coaches.

After several years of futility the faithful realized they were getting screwed and stopped going to games. It was then that Maser started spending money on the organization again. Willy has done alot here but the team really turned the corner when Carrier was hired. He drafted guys like Hollweg, Ried, Lopul, ect, ect. and got the tigers competative again.
