Cougars can eliminate Everett tonight

EVERETT - The Prince George Cougars have the chance to put a steel dagger through the hearts of the Everett Silvertips.
The Cougars can eliminate the Silvertips from the second round of the WHL playoffs with a victory tonight at CN Centre (7 p.m. start). After a dramatic, 4-3 comeback win Saturday at the Everett Events Center, the Cougars lead the best-of-seven Western Conference semifinal 3-2.

“We’re going to expect a great game,” said Cougars forward Devin Setoguchi, who began Saturday’s rally at 3:01 of the third period with his ninth goal of the playoffs. The Cougars were down 3-0 at the start of the third but the Setoguchi marker, one by Nick Drazenovic and two off the stick of Chris Durand gave Prince George the unlikely victory in front of 7,739 Silvertips supporters.

“They’re going to come up there and they’re going to battle hard,” Setoguchi added. “They’re a great team and we’ve got to match their intensity, match their work ethic and just get the fans behind us and play as hard as we possibly can in order to get that fourth win.”

A Prince George series win against Everett would be considered a major upset. The Silvertips, who are the top-ranked team in the CHL, finished 37 points ahead of the Cougars during the regular season.

A Cougars team last appeared in the conference final in 1999-2000. That year, the Cats lasted five games against the Spokane Chiefs.

The Vancouver Giants, who beat the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-1 in the other semifinal series, are awaiting either the Cougars or Silvertips.

If a seventh game is required, it will be on the ice Wednesday in Everett.

I am not surprised at all by Prince George up 3-2 in the series Prince George has had all the tools there all season long. Prince George had 3rd place locked up with more then 2 months left in the season they were too far behind Kamloops and Vancouver and had a nice cushion on Chilliwack and Kelowna they were just playing to stay healthy and fine tone there game.

Now there putting it together when it matters the most, I do predict PG to win game 6 infact it wouldnt surprise me at all either when they knock off Vancouver in 6 either.....

GO PRINCE GEORGE

Come on Jason....you had the perfect setup to make a line about a railway spike since the game is at the CN Center.

But the part of matching the work ethic and intensity is bang on. It really frustrates the Tips if a team out skates and out hits them then they start taking penalties.

This will be 1 hell of a game. Both teams want it more then anything. I sure hope the Cougs can knock em off in 6. Ill be VERY nervous if it goes to 7.
