with their first pick. Great pick, highly touted and looks to be a real goal scorer. Was hoping it'd be Inglis or Ross.

Sounds like we have a great prospect here.

The Saskatoon Blades made power forward Charles Inglis the fourth overall pick during Thursdays Western Hockey League bantam draft in Calgary.

To us, hes the total package, said Blades coach-GM Lorne Molleken.

He skates, he hits and he can score. Were real pleased to have him on our side.

The Saskatoon Blades selected Winnipeg's Charles Inglis fourth overall in Thursday's WHL bantam draft.

The 5-foot-10 centre led the host Winnipeg Sharks to a silver finish at the Western Canadian bantam championships last month. With 12 points in four games, Inglis was MVP of the tournament.

People out there compare him to a Jarome Iginla or a Wendel Clark as a young guy, said Molleken.

Hes that type of player. He plays the game with an edge and hes a very difficult guy to play against.

With their second-round-pick, 27th overall, the Blades picked centre Josh Nicholls from Delta, B.C.

Hes got great vision and a great compete level, plus hes one of the best skaters in the draft, Molleken said of the six-footer.

In 72 bantam AAA games with the South Delta Storm, Nicholls registered 123 points (including 51 goals) and 174 penalty minutes.

Im very excited because (the Blades) have a great young roster coming up in the next couple of years and a lot of good prospects, said Nicholls.

Earlier Thursday, the Moose Jaw Warriors swapped places with the Portland Winter Hawks, moving from the fifth to first. The Warriors used the top pick to select forward Quinton Howden from Oak Bank, Man. The Kelowna Rockets picked Phoenix forward Luke Moffatt second, and in the third slot, the expansion Edmonton Oil Kings selected defenceman Mark Pysyk from Sherwood Park, Alta.

The Swift Current Broncos picked Saskatoon forward Christian Magnus ninth overall, marking the sixth straight year that a Saskatonian has been picked in the first round. Saskatoon has delivered 13 first-rounders since 2002.

The Regina Pats picked Martensville forward Dominick Favreau with the 13th overall pick.

it'll be exciting to see these players at camp this year. and hopefully one or two in the lineup full time the year after next.

inglis and nicholls are two solid picks at centre.

As for him being compared to Wendel Clark and Jarome Iginla, that is good for him, and I truely hope he can help the Blades. We will see if he lives up to that comparison in a few years. Also there is a picture of him in the SP and he looks mean, and strong. I am sure he is a friendly guy,but in that picture he did not look friendly(he might have been having a bad day.) haha

Hopefully he(and some of the other players) will showcase their talent for us at the Ice Breaker Tournament in September.
