The Edmonton Oil Kings added a number of players to their roster at the 2007 Western Hockey League Edmonton Expansion Draft. General Manager Bob Green, along with his scouting staff, made their final picks after carefully examining the lists of protected players supplied by each team in the league. Included in the Oil Kings selections were Edmonton natives J.P. Szaszkiewicz, a left-winger from the Spokane Chiefs, Brent Henke, a local Midget AAA player whose rights were held by the Kootenay Ice, and Bretton Stamler, a 4- year WHL veteran with the Seattle Thunderbirds who is originally from Beaumont, AB and now resides in Edmonton. Also drafted were:

J.P Szaszkiewicz is a player who gives 110% or more each and every shift no matter where he is asked to play. I've seen games where he starts as a winger, moved to centerand then defense, and back to a forward position. He can play on the pp and pk. He may not have the high stats like some other players but he plays with heart. nhl
JP will be missed here in Spokane. Best of luck to JP from all of us here. Playing for your hometown crowd will be great I'm sure. yeehoo
