Theres a post that says Edmonton traded Cody Gross to Regina, and if you look at the expansion draft picks from the Oil Kings web site, his name is not on the list of players picked. How would that have played out i wonder? Edmonton must be getting future considerations in the form of a bantam draft pick. Regina gave Raedeke in lieu of a pick, so i'm not sure how this works out? Anyone have any idea / info?

The players listed below were all acquired prior to today in lieu of the pick in today’s Expansion Draft.

Brenden Dowd – LW - Kamloops Blazers
*Acquired From: Kamloops Blazers

Brent Raedeke – C - Regina Jr. Pat Canadians
*Acquired From: Regina Pats

Maybe Edmonton drafted Cody Gross and then traded him to Regina as compensation for the trade to get Raedeke from Regina prior to the draft?
Just speculating... I didn't go looking to see what the Raedeke trade involved....

Well that can't be it, according to this info I yanked from the Pats site:

Raedeke dealt

The Regina Pats completed a draft-day trade with the Edmonton Oil Kings on Friday by sending Regina-born winger Brent Raedeke to the expansion club.

The deal fulfills Regina's obligation to Edmonton for the WHL expansion draft, which takes place June 5. Each WHL team is slated to lose a player in the draft, unless it works out a trade in lieu of the selection.

The Pats acquired a second-round pick (23rd overall) from the Oil Kings during Thursday's bantam draft, using the selection on left-winger Graham Hood of Martensville. Regina gave up its second-round pick (35th overall) and a third-rounder (57th) in the deal.

The final piece of the puzzle is Raedeke, 16, an eighth-round pick (114th) in the 2005 bantam draft. He recorded 16 goals and 20 assists for 36 points in 40 games this season with the midget AAA Regina Pat Canadians.
