The meeting today (June 18th) is for the Eastern Conference only. The Western Conference will meet in mid-July in Kelowna to do their schedule. The interlocking schedule (Eastern Conference v. Western Conference) is done.

Some teams will announce their schedule early but the official announcement date is usually on or around August 1st. The league waits for the NBA to release its schedule before officially releasing the WHL schedule because of possible last minute conflicts in Seattle and Portland.

And it's not pretty. 14 of 15 at home from December 1st through January 8th (the one road game is a monsterous 90 minute trip to Red Deer). To make up for it, for the last six weeks of the season (February 1st to March 16th) they play four (that's right, 4) home games and 15 on the road.

Anyone in Edmonchuk know what's going on in February and March in Rexall?

Curling isn't the cause. The Brier is in Winnipeg; The Canada Cup of Curling is in Kamloops Feb 26 - Mar 2; Scott Tournament of Hearts is in Regina Feb 16 - 24..... I guess it's Oilers, boat show, lacrosse. Anyway, heck of a schedule and I would think this makes it exceptionally difficult to make the playoffs. Look at Lethbridge this past season and their six week road trip.

The Western Conference will hold their scheduling meeting July 25th. Expect the league to announce the full official schedule about a week later.
