Yes hopefully he is better then Konecny. Hopefully playing in the WHL will make him a better player and hopefully he can stay healthy and will report to camp.(I am pretty sure he will)

Slovakian Winger Taken With 2nd Import Choice


Saskatoon, SK: The Saskatoon Blades this afternoon announced that have chosen Right Winger Robert Brandis of Slovakia with their 2nd selection, 66th overall in the 2007 CHL Import Draft. Earlier in the day the hockey club selected 17-year-old defenseman Jyri Niemi of Hameenkyro, Finland with their first selection, the 13th overall selection.



Brandis, a 19-year-old, who hails from Slovakia was a member of the Dukla-Trencin in the Slovakian U-20 Extraliga this past season where he registered 17 goals and 15 assists to go along with 68 penalty minutes in 47 games. Brandis who stands 6’1 and weighs in at 196lbs is eligible for the 2008 NHL Draft and will join the Blades for training camp this August in Martensville.

Blades General Manager and Head Coach Lorne Molleken commented on today’s 2nd selection “Robert is a young man who was brought to our attention by one of our NHL contacts and comes to us with tremendous character. He is very excited to become a Saskatoon Blade and we believe we have selected a big, strong young man who will compete in the tough areas and has the ability to put some numbers on the board for us.”
