Read that the Tigers have lured another good one. Rumor is 17 year-old forward John Stampohar from Hibbing, Minnesota has decided to skip the college route and come to the Tigers. Stampohar stands 6'4" and weighs in at 220 lbs. John was an honourable mention on the 2007 Associate Press all-state team.

Sounds like awesome news. The tigers held a late prospects camp in minnesotta, and aparently it was a hot-bed for american hockey players. We could also use a couple bigger players.

If true this would be interesting news. He would be the biggest forward the tigs have dressed in a long time.

Alaska looks like they are going to hire former Mercyhurst assistant John Rose as an assistant coach, to replace Wade Klippenstein, who left Fairbanks for a coaching position with the Prince George Cougars. Rose and new Alaska head coach Doc DelCastillo both worked at the Minnesota Hockey Camps near Brainerd, Minnesota.

Speaking of which, Hibbing HS forward John Stampohar looks like he'll be going to Medicine Hat to play for the Tigers after an impressing some people at the Minnesota Hockey Camps. Stampohar is a big kid with a lot of potential, which is what they love in the WHL. What makes this even more interesting is that Medicine Hat GM/Coach Willie Desjardins may be leaving Medicine Hat to coach in the Phoenix Coyotes organization.
