The Vancouver Giants are proud to announce to the signing of MITCH SPOONER and GREG LAMOUREUX to a Western Hockey League Player Contract and Education Agreement.

Spooner was Vancouver's first pick in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft (19th overall). The 6'0", 170lbs. defenceman from Port Moody, BC had 26 goals and 16 assists in 41 games playing AAA bantam hockey last season.

Lamoureux was the Giants second pick in the same draft (52nd overall). The 6'0", 160lbs. centre from Calgary, Alberta collected 17 goals and 30 assists in 27 games for the Calgary Buffalo Rangers AAA bantam club last year.

"Mitch and Greg are two high quality prospects that have bright futures ahead in our league," says Giants General Manager Scott Bonner. "We are very excited to have both players committed to the Giants organization and look forward to seeing them take part in their first training camp next month."

In signing the WHL contract and education agreement, both Spooner and Lamoureux receive a complete one-year CIS university scholarship for every season they play in the WHL for a maximum of five years.
