Boise Idaho - The 2007 Kelly Cup Champion Idaho Steelheads, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Dallas Stars and the AHL Iowa Stars, announced that Colin Sinclair, a forward from the University of New Brunswick, has agreed to terms to play for the 2007-08 season.
Sinclair, 6'1", 210-pounds, spent three years playing for UNB's Varsity Reds as their best defensive forward, also serving as assistant captain. The three-time Dean's List student and academic all-Canadian, fast tracked his four-year Business degree to graduate in three years, then completed his two-year MBA degree in May 2007 while capturing the 2007 Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) National Men's Hockey Championship.

"Colin is a highly-recruited right winger that will attract attention from the AHL this year," said Steelheads Head Coach Derek Laxdal. "His character and proven record of hard work will be a perfect fit to our team philosophy."

The highly-acclaimed Sinclair was named the top student-athlete in Canadian University Hockey as the 2007 recipient of the Dr. Randy Gregg award, recognizing outstanding hockey ability, academic achievement, and community service. Sinclair also received the Atlantic University Sport's most prestigious award, the James Bayer Scholarship, for excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, sportsmanship, and citizenship for 2006-07, and was selected as the 2006-07 recipient of the Godfrey Award. This award, named after Dr. Bill Godfrey, is given annually to the player who best represents the spirit of intercollegiate hockey by his leadership both on and off the ice and by his conduct throughout the season.

Sinclair, from Brooks, Alberta, was the co-captain of Canada's gold medal winning Atlantic University Sport all-star team, which represented Canada at the World University Games in 2007.

While at UNB, Sinclair played in 82 games, scoring 28 goals and 43 assists (71 points). During his rookie season Sinclair averaged more than a-point-per-game with 14 goals and 18 assists (32 points) in 28 games.

Before playing for the Varsity Reds, Sinclair played for the Kootenay Ice, a member of the Western Hockey League, a junior league for the Canadian Hockey League. During his time with the Kootenay Ice, Sinclair played 325 games, scored 56 goals and earned 112 assists for a total of 168 points.

The Steelheads will unveil the 2007 Kelly Cup Championship banner at the 2007-08 season home opener on Friday, October 19th against the Victoria SalmonKings.
