Blades Current Roster....(Crowley gone)

Troy Crowley has gone back home to concentrate on his education. Big blow to the team I think. He was a good young energy player.

Here's whose left at camp, no surprises

Goaltenders (4): Braden Holtby (1989), Garrett Zemlak (1989), Adam Morrison (1991), Matthew Krahn (1991).

Krahn and Morrison have played great but again both are probably better off having another year of midget since they'd be playing lots.

Defence (11): Brett Ward (1988), Ryan Funk (1989), Sam Klassen (1989), Teigan Zahn (1990), Colton McPherson (1989), Jyri Niemi (1990), Brendon Wall (1990), Cameron Canart (1990), Stefan Elliott (1991), Mitch Berg (1991), Tanner Sohn (1991).

I'm guessing 3 d-men will be gone at the end of pre-season. 4 if they get an overaged d-man from somewhere.


Forwards (17): Chris Durand (1987), Michael Kaye (1987), Justin McCrae (1988), Garrett Klotz (1988), Craig Cuthbert (1988), Robert Brandis (1988), Colton Gillies (1989), Walker Wintoneak (1989), Kirk Belyk (1989), Derek Hulak (1989), Dustin Cameron (1989), Jordan Braid (1989), Gaelan Patterson (1990), Travis Toomey (1990), Kevin Philp (1990), Curtis Hamilton (1991), Charles Inglis (1992).

The forwards seem to be set, there's 16 excluding Inglis. No offense to Craig but I think his days are done as a Blade. The young forwards like Toomey, Braid, Philp were more noticeable in scrimmages then he was.

That roster looks pretty good,but loosing Crowley REALLY hurt (perhaps if Dane Crowley was never traded/brought back) His brother probably would have stayed.

I agree about Cuthbert as well,this team looks not too bad right now,and just wait until the Oct 11th,and expect to see another 20 year old brought in(hopefully a defencemen.)

here was a factor in Troy not playing here, otherwise he wouldn't have been here last year.

This does allow guys like Belyk, Braid, Toomey and Philp more playing time.

Glad to see Belyk and Braid sticking around.

but I think its somewhat safe to say Braid and Belyk will be here for the season.
