The Blazers scored on their first shot on goal en route to a 5-1 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings on Saturday night at Servus Place in St. Albert.

CJ Stretch opened the scoring 25 seconds in - sweeping a shot past Dalyn Flette for a 1-0 Kamloops lead. The lead held through the opening period despite the Oil Kings holding a 6-2 shot advantage. In the second, the Blazers took control with three goals - one from Tyler Shattock and two from Jordan Rowley - building a 4-0 lead before Craig McCallum cut the lead to 4-1 after 40.

The Blazers added a third-period powerplay goal from Shayne Wiebe to round out the scoring.

Final shots were 32-17 for the Blazers - 30-11 in the final 40 minutes. The Blazers were 3-for-8 on the PP and 7-for-7 on the PK.

James Priestner (9/9 saves) started in the Blazer goal with Jon Groenheyde (7/8 saves) closing things out. Dalyn Flette (8/10 saves) and Brian Kaval (19/22 saves) shared the loss.
