Kent, WA., September 15, 2007 - The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-3 in overtime Saturday night at Kent Valley Ice Centre in Kent in the final preseason game of the year for the T-Birds.

The T-Birds start the regular season Saturday, September 22, in Kamloops against the Blazers. The home opener is Saturday, September 29, against the Everett Silvertips at KeyArena at 7:05 p.m.

Both teams had five shots on goal in the first period.
Seattle took a 2-0 lead eight minutes into the second period when they scored two unassisted goals in 10 second.

Jan Eberle came in on the right side and beat Everett goalie Shayne Barrie high on the stick side at 8:08 to make it 1-0.

Right off the ensuing face-off the T-Birds got the puck into the Everett zone. Brenden Silvester had the puck in the left corner and made a centering pass. His pass deflected off an Everett defender and into the Silvertips net at 8:18 of the period.

Kyle Beach scored at 8:48 of the second to cut the T- Bird lead to one goal. Jonathan Harty had the assist on the goal.

The T-Birds took a 3-1 lead at 16:39 on a nice play by Jeremy Boyer and Bud Holloway. Boyer took a pass from Lindsay Nielsen and skated down the left side. Boyer dropped the puck back to Holloway in the high slot. Holloway ripped a one-timer that beat Barrie high stick side for the third T-Birds goal of the game.

Dan Gendur scored a power-play goal at 18:13 of the second to get the Silvertips second goal. Brandon Campos and Zack Dailey had the assists.

Both teams had 10 shots on goal in the second period.

Harty scored at 9:21 of the third period to tie the game 3-3. Brennan Sonne and Lukas Vartovnik had the assists.

Seattle was awarded a penalty shot at 13:18 of the third period when Cody Hanson was pulled down from behind on a breakaway. David Richard took the penalty shot but Barrie made a left leg save to deny Richard.

Seattle outshot Everett 17-6 in third period and led 32- 21 going into overtime.

Beach scored 48 seconds into overtime to give the Tips the win. Harty had the only assist on the goal.
