Monday's moves
The Brandon Wheat Kings got down to two goaltenders Monday when they assigned Deven Dubyk, 16, to the MJHL’s Swan Valley Stampeders. (I only wish Dubyk had played on the Kamloops Blazers at the same time as Devan Dubnyk.). . . . That leaves Brandon with veteran Joe Caligiuri and freshman Andrew Hayes, 17, as its goaltenders. Hayes continued to recover from a broken finger so Caligiuri will carry the mail in the early going. . . . Brandon has 25 players on its roster, including 10 defencemen. . . . There has to be some concern in the Wheat Kings organization pertaining to season-ticket sales. You may recall that Brandon chopped the price of a season ducat to $250 prior to last season and sold about 2,600 season-tickets. That total is less than 2,300 right now. . . .

The Kootenay Ice is down to 27 players after assigning F Michael Cassivi to the junior B Grand Forks Border Bruins -- they play in B.C., not N.D. -- and D Brad Ryan to the AJHL’s Calgary Canucks. . . . The Ice still are carrying three goaltenders and 16 forwards. . . .

The Red Deer Rebels are down to two goaltenders after assigning Travis Rolheiser, 18, to the AJHL’s Canmore Eagles. The move coincides with the return of James Reimer from the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs. That leaves the Rebels with Reimer and Morgan Clark as the goaltenders. . . . The Rebels’ roster is at 24, but that includes three forwards at NHL camps -- Brandon Sutter (Carolina Hurricanes) and Brett Sutter and J.D. Watt, both with the Calgary Flames.

The Red Deer Rebels Hockey Club announced today they have reassigned 18-year old goaltender Travis Rolheiser to the Canmore Eagles of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. Goaltender James Reimer,19, has been returned to the Red Deer Rebels from the Toronto Maple Leafs. With these moves the Rebels have 24 players on their roster including three players still with National Hockey League teams. Brandon Sutter is currently with the Carolina Hurricanes, Brett Sutter and J.D. Watt are with the Calgary Flames.
