BUCKED OFF BY THE BRONCOS

Swift Current, SK - The Edmonton Oil Kings hit their biggest speed bump on their first road trip with their new bus in Swift Current Friday night. The Broncos christened their newly renovated arena with a convincing 10 - 1 win over the Oil Kings. It's the largest margin of victory an opponent has built up on the Oil Kings this season. The penalty filled affair saw Edmonton in the penalty box for 49 out of the 60 minute contest and the Broncos tallied 3 power play goals along the way.

6 different Bronco players had multiple point nights lead by Keegan Dansereau's hat trick and a 4 point night from Levi Nelson who finished with 2 goals and 2 assists. One of Dansereau's goals also came on a penalty shot late in the second period. St. Albert native Matt Tassone also had 2 goals for Swift Current. David Stieler, Erik Felde, and Cody Eakin added singles for the home team.

Craig McCallum was the only Oil King to beat Travis Yonkman on the night. It was actually a one goal game through 24 minutes of play and then the flood gates and penalty box gates opened at the same time. 5 fighting majors per team brought up the penalty mintue total as well.

The Broncos' win in their first home game of the season improves their record to 6 - 2 - 0 - 1 while the Oil Kings' fall to 4 - 3 - 0 - 1. Edmonton doesn't have time to dwell on the loss. They play in Medicine Hat Saturday night. The homecoming of sorts for both Oil Kings' General Manager Bob Green and Assistant Coach Rocky Thompson starts at 7:00 P.M. MST.
