TAMED BY THE TIGERS

Medicine Hat, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings will be coming home from their brief 2 game road trip empty handed. Their first matchup against the defending WHL champions turned into a 6 - 2 win for the Medicine Hat Tigers. It's a road trip the team will like to soon forget, being outscored 16 - 3 in two very tough buildings.

Saturday night's tilt started out with a bang when Karey Pieper and Jordan Benefield dropped the mits just 4 seconds into the contest and the parade to the penalty box that the Oil Kings' started the night before in Swift Current continued. A few minutes later, veteran forward Brenden Dowd took a hooking penalty and the Tigers turned that into a powerplay goal and a 1 goal lead courtesy of Tyler Ennis who lead the Tigers on the night with 2 goals and an assist.

Medicine Hat would go on to build up a 5 goal lead through 40 minutes thanks to another powerplay goal and a short handed marker from Bretton Cameron. Recently acquired Yashar Farmanara, John Stampohar, and Wacey Hamilton rounded out the scoring for the home team.

Robin Figren would break Ryan Holfeld's shut out bid 3:35 seconds into the third period and Michael Hengen scored on the powerplay a little later to account for the Oil Kings' scoring. Alex Archibald was busy again between the pipes for Edmonton facing 30 Tiger shots. The big stat of the night was Medicine Hat's powerplay going 3 for 8. The Oil Kings' racked up another 25 minutes in penalties and are quickly becoming one of the most penalized teams in the league.

With the win, Medicine Hat stretches it's winning streak to 4 games and improves their record to 7 - 2 - 1 - 0. Edmonton drops to 4 - 4 - 0 - 1 and will have a week of practice to get ready for the #1 ranked team in the country. The Calgary Hitmen visit Rexall Place for the first time this season Friday October, 19th.

It will be the 'Battle of Alberta Suitcase Party'. Some lucky family that packs their bags and brings them to the game will win a trip for 4 down to Calgary to see the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames in action the very next day at the Pengrowth Saddledome. The prize package includes 4 tickets to the game, transportation, 1 night accomodation and $400 spending money.
