GM #12: Pats 4 vs. Hurricanes 3

i didnt see the game, so could someone give a recap of what happened?Perhaps also the line combos, because i heard hunt was changing them up.

It seems every game I miss ends up being a good one... and it looks like this one was. Why could I miss the boring ass PA game instead? I also find it weird that we scored all our goals on the PP, and it was 100 percent that night, which we all know that never happens. Perhaps Theisson was a factor? Lethbridge is even more hated by the refs than the pats are, so it wouldnt surprise me.

Seen as nobody has replied yet, I can fill you in with the specifics that I remember. It seemed that for most of the night MacAngus was only with Eberle and Kraus if the Pats were on a powerplay. Jagow spent some time with the big two. Elder left the game half way through the second, haven't heard why yet, but he did have the fight in the first.

The powerplay was a little bit different format Perkins talked about on the post game and it just worked out that they scored 4 times. They scored twice on the major after Mitchell was practically put through the boards. MacAngus tried to jump Veersteg (sp?), but Thiessen was having none of that.

Thiessen wasn't great, not horrible either. I would say a typical officiated game.

I am drawing blanks on more line combos. I thought Nick Ross played an excellent game and even picked up 3 assists as I am sure you saw.

Most importantly, the Pats won the third although the last half of the second perhaps was their "3rd period nap time". Hopefully soon, the boys can put together 60 minutes.

To be quite honest with you, I thought the Pats best d-man was Matt Delahey. Nice to see Strueby get some PP time. Best player on the ice, hands down, was Jordan Eberle.
Hunt played Eberle with Cerveny in the third, might be an interesting combination.

I think its about time Hunt tried spreading the offence out in the line up rather than putting all his eggs in one basket (eb-kraus-mac). I always thought cervany would play well with Jordan once he got more used to the NA game. I would like to see Kraus start playing with a speedy guy like Gross and perhaps a budding scorer like Strueby. Matt needs to be put on a scoring line to get in his groove this season, and this would be a good start. He has some talent, and it would be put to better use on a scoring line.

Perhaps we should throw ofukany in there when he gets back too, but thats a couple weeks from now.

and now would be an especially good time to try some new lines, or practise more with the line changes from last game, being we are against a western conference team that probably wont make the playoffs, and it will probably be the only time we play these guys this year.

The various line combo's were partly due to the fact that Hunt dressed 7 defensemen. Also adding to the mixed up lines was as JDubb mentioned was the early departure of Elder.
