Brandon, Manitoba -- The Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings expect to have veteran defenceman Theran Yeo back in the lineup Friday night when they continue a 5-game home stand against the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes at Westman Place.

A 20-year old native of Prince Albert, Yeo met with his surgeon in Winnipeg on Wednesday afternoon and was given clearance to return to action. The 4-year WHL veteran, who underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee three weeks ago, suffered the injury during the club's training camp last month.

In 158 career games with the Wheat Kings, the 6'1” 220 lb defenceman has five goals, 29 points and is the club's active leader with 362 career penalty minutes.

During the 2006-07 campaign, Yeo had 2 goals, 13 points and 164 penalty minutes in 55 games. Yeo is one of three overage players on Brandon's roster, joining left-winger Tyler Dittmer and captain Daryl Boyle.

The Wheat Kings will be looking to run their winning streak to three games on Friday. Winners of five of their last six games, Brandon enters the weekend with an impressive 7-2-0 record, good for second place in the WHL's Eastern Division. Brandon is 2-1-0 during its current home stand, following Wednesday night's impressive 6-1 victory over the visiting Red Deer Rebels.

In Wednesday's game, three of the Wheat Kings' highly touted rookies recorded firsts. 18-year old Matt Calvert scored twice - his first multi-goal night of his WHL career, 16-year old defenceman Brodie Melnychuk recorded his first ever WHL points by setting up two third period goals while 16-year old Brayden Schenn scored his first goal ever as a Wheat King as Brandon improved its home ice record to 4-2-0.

Schenn was Brandon's first pick (9th overall selection) in the 2006 WHL bantam draft.

Tickets to Friday's game against Lethbridge as well as Saturday's game against the defending champion Medicine Hat Tigers are on sale now at the Keystone Centre box office. Fans can also order by phone at 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca
