Brandon, Manitoba -- The Brandon Wheat Kings will be hoping to continue their winning ways Friday night when they kick off the final leg of a five game Western Hockey League home stand against the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes at Westman Place.

Winners of five of their last six games, the Wheat Kings enter the weekend with a record of 7-2-0, good for 14 points and third place in the WHL's Eastern Division. Brandon is currently two points back of second place Regina and three behind the front running Swift Current Broncos.

Lethbridge meanwhile is tied with Edmonton for fourth place in the Central Division with a record of 4-7-1-0 in twelve games. The Hurricanes, who dropped a 4-3 decision to the Pats in Regina on Wednesday enter Friday night's game winless in four games (0-3-1).

Friday's game will be the second of the season between these two teams. Back on October 6th, Tyler Dittmer scored three unanswered third period goals to lead the Wheat Kings to a 5-2 victory in Lethbridge. During the 2006-07 campaign, the two teams split their 4-game series.

The Wheat Kings, who assigned 18-year old defenceman Matt Smith to LaRonge of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League on Thursday, will have 20-year old defenceman Theran Yeo back in the lineup this weekend. The 6'1” 220 lb Prince Albert native, who underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee earlier this month, has been given clearance to resume playing. This weekend will be his first taste of active duty this season, after sustaining the injury during the club's training camp in early September.

Former Medicine Hat Tiger Matt Lowry, who will face off against his former team for the first time on Saturday night, enters the weekend riding a 7-game point scoring streak and is currently tied for the club scoring lead with seven goals and 14 points in nine games. Linemate Andrew Clark meanwhile has a 5-game point scoring streak and captain Daryl Boyle has moved to within one point of the century mark in his 4-year WHL career.

Friday's game will feature a return to western Manitoba for Deloraine brothers Jacob and Nick Dietrich. The sons of former Wheat Kings' captain Don Dietrich are teammates with the 'Canes. While 20-year old Jacob is in his fourth WHL season, 18-year old Nick made Lethbridge this season as an unlisted free agent during training camp.

Performing the National anthem Friday night - Convergys Night at Westman Place - will be 15-year old Ali Mullin of Cartwright. Ali is the 2007 Manitoba High School Rodeo Queen and appears in Brandon a week before the city hosts the Wheat City Stampede. On Saturday, the anthem will be sung by members of the Christian Heritage School Choir.
