BLAZERS ACQUIRE GAUTHIER

KAMLOOPS, BC – The Kamloops Blazers today acquired 20-year-old defenseman Mike Gauthier from the Prince Albert Raiders in exchange for 20-year-old defenseman Ryan White and a 5th round selection in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft.
“Mike is a rugged, hard-nosed defenseman who brings more grit and toughness to our back end,” says General Manager and Head Coach Dean Clark. “In saying that, it was difficult to part with Ryan. His game developed a lot from the time he came into the league two years ago. We’re hoping his skills and skating ability will help the Raiders this season.”
Gauthier, from North Vancouver, is a veteran of 246 WHL games – all with the Raiders – scoring 13 goals, adding 33 assists, and recording 703 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 202-pound blueliner was the Raiders’ first pick, third overall, in the 2002 WHL Bantam Draft and was also a 6th round selection of the St. Louis Blues in the 2005 NHL Draft.
