Ryan White Acquired from Kamloops in exchange for Mike Gauthier

Prince Albert, Saskatchewan – The Prince Albert Raiders and Kamloops Blazers completed a Western Hockey League trade today involving 20 year-old defencemen. The Raiders have acquired Ryan White and the Blazers 5th round pick in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft in exchange for Mike Gauthier.
Gauthier was in his fifth full season with the Raiders after playing 3 games with the Raiders as a 15 year-old in 2002-03. He has played 246 WHL games, scored 13 goals, 33 assists and totaled 703 minutes in penalties, all in a Raider uniform. Gauthier led the WHL in PIM’s last season with 264 and currently has 45 PIMs, 1 goal and 5 assists in 13 games this year with the Raiders.
White is playing his third season in the WHL. In 07-08 he has appeared in 12 games with the Blazers with 6 assists and 2 minutes in penalties.
“Ryan White is a strong skater with good puck handling skills”, said General Manager Donn Clark of the Raiders. “We are excited to add him to our roster.”
White is expected to join the Raiders in time for their weekend home and home series against the Regina Pats at the Art Hauser Centre Friday at 7:30 PM and in Regina Saturday.
It is the second time this season the Raiders and Blazers have been completed a trade. September 19th the Raiders acquired 20 year-old goaltender Dustin Butler from the Blazers in exchange for a conditional 6th round bantam pick in the 2009 WHL Draft.
