Rookie netminder Tyler Plante established a new franchise record Friday night as the first place Brandon Wheat Kings brought the curtain down on their 2004-2005 Western Hockey League home schedule.

The 17-year old Brandon product, who led the AAA midget Wheat Kings to last year's National Championship in Kenora, made 26 saves including fifteen in the third periods as the Wheat Kings blanked the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors 5-0 before over 5,300 fans at the Keystone Centre.

The shutout, his sixth of the season, set a new club record for most shutouts in a single season, breaking the old record of five - set by Josh Harding last year. It also moved Plante into a tie with Geoff McIntosh for fourth place on the club's all time list. Only Byron Penstock (7), Jamie Hodson (8) and current Washington Capitals' head coach Glen Hanlon (8) recorded more during their WHL careers in Brandon.
