Congrats to Cody on making the Under 17 team western and will play in London Ontario after christmas. Cody is part of the 22 man roster of players from Manitoba/Saskatchewan of which 16 are WHL'rs. The other 6 are WHL prospects who are not in the league yet.

Eakin Named to Team West for U-17 World Challenge
Nov 14 - Cody Eakin will be representing the Broncos at this years Under 17 World Challenge that will be held in London, Ontario from December 29, 2007 to January 4, 2008.

Eakin will be competing as part of Team West made up of 11 players from both Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Eakin was informed of the news on Tuesday afternoon that he will be joining Team West at the tournament. Born in Winnipeg, MB, Cody has has recorded 3 goals and 1 assists in 20 games played for the Broncos this season. The 5’11.5”, 175 pound 16 year old was drafted by the Broncos in the 1st round (6th overall) in the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft.

“It’s great to see Cody recognized in this elite group. He is very deserving of his selection as he has had a tremendous start to his WHL career.” commented Broncos GM/Head Coach Dean Chynoweth. “We wish him all the best during the world challenge!”

Team West departs for London on December 26th and will see its first action in an exhibition game against Finland on Friday, December 28th. Tournament play begins Saturday, December 29th versus Germany.
