NHL Releases Preliminary Draft Rankings

The National Hockey League released its preliminary rankings for the 2008 Entry Draft this week, with Sarnia Sting forward Steven Stamkos, Quebec Remparts winger Mikhail Stephanovich, and Everett Silvertips centre Kyle Beach leading each of their respective league lists in the Canadian Hockey League.
Stamkos, 17, is already projected as a first pick overall selection by TSN's scouting poll, ISS and McKeen's Hockey.
He has 21 goals and 38 points in 22 games this season.
Guelph's Drew Doughty and Peterborough Petes defenceman Zach Bogosian round out the top three in the OHL, while the QMJHL's top three are filled in with defenceman Yann Sauve of Saint John and winger Philippe Cornet of the Rimouski Oceanic.
In the WHL, Kelowna Rockets defenceman Tyler Myers, and Regina Pats blueliner Colten Teubert join Beach in the top three.
The league also listed players from the NCAA and European leagues. Defenceman Vyacheslav Voinov of Chelyabinsk leads all Russian skaters, while centre Tomi Sallinen, defenceman Tomas Kundratek, winger Tomas Hricina and defenceman Johan Motin lead the lists in Finland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Sweden respectively.
The draft will be held in Ottawa on June 20 and 21.
