View Full Version : Is the newest ownership trying to kill this franchise?

Ever since the new ownership took over the Winter Hawks, the team (and fan support) has gone from bad to worse. I looked at the game-attendance averages, today, and Portland's home games have dropped by over 15% average-attendance from last season.

This season, with the return of the radio-cast (thank you!), and now with the hiring of a former WHL/NHL player as a Hockey Consultant, it at least appears that the ownership wants to head in the correct direction. But with the team floundering so terribly on the ice, several key questions linger:

1) After perhaps the worst start in franchise history, how is Richard Kromm still the coach? Will he remain with the team, and, if so, for how long?

2) Will there be any more trades this season? The team had a fire-sale last season, and it has not paid off. In fact, it almost seems like the team is REgressing rather than PROgressing.

3) How long will Portland fans stay patient with this franchise? In a matter of 1-1/2 years, the team has gone from perennial contender to an afterthought.
------------

What do some other fans think about what's happening in Portland, and what lies ahead in the future?

hey they beat regina tonight, maybe it's what they needed to get things going. Lots of new faces, came together to beat a top team, good thing to start building off of?

It is always tough to watch a once proud franchise struggle. ie The Blazers.
Keep your heads up Portland fans. Things will turn if you give it enough time.
