Brandon, Manitoba -- For the second consecutive season, the Brandon Wheat Kings may be represented at the World Junior Hockey Championship in the Czech Republic.

19-year old left-winger Daniel Bartek was one of twenty-five players chosen today to attend the Czech Republic's National Selection Camp in December.

Right-winger Juraj Simek, who is currently skating with the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League, represented Switzerland at the 2007 Tournament in Sweden.

A first round draft choice of the Tri-City Americans in the 2006 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft, Bartek is in his second season with the Wheat Kings and is among the WHL club's scoring leaders with eleven goals and 21 points in 27 games. In 99 career WHL games, Bartek has 23 goals, 42 points and 18 minutes in penalties.

Bartek is scheduled to leave for camp on December 10th in preparation for this year's tournament, scheduled to run from December 26th to January 5th in the cities of Pardubice and Liberec in the Czech Republic.

Bartek becomes the fourth member of the Wheat Kings to be invited to attend a prestigious International event this holiday season. Rookies Scott Glennie, Brodie Melnychuk and Brayden Schenn were recently chosen to play for Team Western at this year's World Under 17 Challenge in London, Ontario. Schenn currently leads all WHL rookies in scoring with 11 goals and 24 points in 27 games.

On the ice, the Wheat Kings continue to prepare for their upcoming 3-game road trip, scheduled to begin Saturday night in Swift Current against the Broncos. Entering the week, the Wheat Kings and Broncos are currently tied for second in the Eastern Division with 35 points each.

Next home game for the Wheat Kings is Friday, December 7th when they play host to the Saskatoon Blades at Westman Place. Tickets to this game are on sale now at the Keystone box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca
