BLAZERS ACQUIRE WASDEN FROM TIGERS

KAMLOOPS, BC – Today the Kamloops Blazers and Medicine Hat Tigers completed a trade in which the Blazers acquired 19-year-old forward Scott Wasden – along with a 7th round selection in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft – from the Tigers in exchange for 18-year-old forward Travis Dunstall.

“Scott is a veteran WHL player with plenty of playoff and Memorial Cup experience who has been on a proven winner throughout his junior career,” says Assistant Coach Andrew Milne. “We are expecting Scott to provide leadership and a winning attitude to our team.”

“At the same time, it is difficult to part company with an individual like Travis and we wish him nothing but success in a new role in Medicine Hat,” says Milne.

Wasden, a 6’1”, 190-pound centre from Westbank, is expected to be in the Blazer lineup on Friday in Kelowna.

I see this as yet another great move by the Blazers since the Clark firing and the even bigger trade that sent Ellerby to Moose Jaw for the quickly becoming fan favorite Brady Calla. Dunstall was starting to become the next liability here, he was only going through the motions on the ice and a fan in the stands could clearly an unimpressed look on Dunstall's face as he took lazy penalites and just didn't want to be here anymore.

The Blazers seem to be pulling out the stops of late for this team to show it's capabilities and make my prediction true of the Blazers winning the Division
