...With goaltender Leland Irving headed off to Canada's selection camp for the World Junior Hockey Championships, the Tips are bringing 15-year-old Kent Simpson, the team's first-round pick in this year's bantam draft, in to serve as Shayne Barrie's backup. I don't know whether Simpson will spend the full month with the team if Irving ends up making Team Canada, but he will be here at least for the final week before the Christmas break.

Center Zach Hamill is also headed to Canada's selection camp, but the Tips are not calling up anyone to fill his spot. Fifteen-year-old forward prospect Tyler Parker will be in town next week to practice with the team, but he won't be added to the roster.
