Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League today announced that forward Colin Long of the Kelowna Rockets, has been named the Husky WHL Player of the Month for December.

The 18 year old forward from Santa Ana, California recorded 23 points in the month of December, netting nine goals and 14 assists all while maintain a plus minus rating of +6 in 12 games played. Long picked up five goals and five assists through the first five games of December and is currently on a six game point scoring streak accumulating 13 points in six games, including four goals, two of which are game winners.

Long’s consistency helped Kelowna post a 6-4-0-2 record through the month of December and an overall record of 21-13-2-4 on the season. The Rockets currently sit fourth place in the WHL Western Conference.

For the week ending December 9th, Long was voted the WHL ‘Fan’s Choice’ Player of the week, his efforts also have earned him a Three Star selection in six of the Rockets 12 games played throughout the month.

The 5’11, 175 lbs. centre, is currently in his third year of play in the Western Hockey League and with the Kelowna Rockets. He also is eligible at this year’s upcoming 2008 NHL Entry Draft in Ottawa, Ontario.

His accomplishments make Colin Long a deserving choice as the HUSKY WHL Player of the Month for December.
