Friday's highlights . . .
WHL trade deadline: Thursday, 3 p.m. Calgary time

Dean Chynoweth, the GM and head coach of the Swift Current Broncos, has been suspended for two games and fined $500 after incurring a game misconduct on Wednesday in a 4-1 loss to the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes. Chynoweth hurled two water bottles on the ice during the third period of that game. . . . Geez, wish I’d been there. It isn’t often that we get to see the coaches get to have that much fun in this league any more. . . . All the suspension does is free him up to spend even more time working the phones in advance of Thursday’s trade deadline. . . . By the way, sources indicate that Chynoweth and the Broncos haven’t actually signed off on that two-year contract extension that was reported to have been agreed to in June. . . .

A list of coaches and general managers to be disciplined by the WHL this
season, showing games suspended, number of times fined and amount fined:
Games Fines/Total
