Brandon, Manitoba -- Three days after welcoming back three members of Team Western's Bronze Medal winning team from the World Under 17 Challenge in London, the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings expect to have 19-year old left-winger Daniel Bartek back in town Tuesday night.

For the past month, Bartek has been home in the Czech Republic representing the Wheat Kings at the 2008 World Junior Hockey Championships.

In six games with his National Junior team, the former Tri-City American had two goals, three points and recorded a +2 ranking for the Czech Republic, who defeated Finland 5-1 in the Consolation Final. After advancing to the medal round, Bartek and the Czech Republic lost 4-1 to Russia in the Semi-Finals.

Without Bartek in the lineup this past month, the Wheat Kings, who currently trail the Eastern Division leading Regina Pats by one point, have compiled a 5-4-0 record.

Bartek is enjoying a banner season in Brandon with fourteen goals and 24 points in 31 games. Since arriving in the WHL in 2006, the 6'2” 193 lb Bartek has scored 26 goals and 45 points in 103 games.

Bartek is expected to be in the Brandon lineup on Wednesday night when the shortstaffed Wheat Kings travel to Moose Jaw to meet the third place Warriors.

Brandon is coming off Sunday night's 9-3 victory over the visiting Prince Albert Raiders in a game that marked the return of 16-year olds Brayden Schenn, Scott Glennie and Brodie Melnychuk. Schenn, who won the tournament scoring title at the World Under 17's scored once and set up three others in Sunday's game while Glennie added four assists for the Wheat Kings, who improved their record to 26-13-0-1 on the season.

Following Wednesday's game, the Wheat Kings will return home to face Swift Current and Vancouver on Friday and Saturday night respectively. Tickets to both games are on sale now at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca
