TONIGHT’S GAME: Tonight will be the 5th of 6 meetings between the Swift Current Broncos and Regina Pats this season…The Broncos hold a 3-1 series edge thus far…The Pats took game one by a score of 5-2 on October 24th, while the Broncos won game two 5-1 on October 30th, game three 2-1 on January 1st and game four 2-1 January 6th.

Against the Pats this season Zack Smith (0 G, 6 A)has 6 points, Levi Nelson (2 G, 3 A) has 5 points and David Stieler (2 G, 2 A) has 4 points… Travis Yonkman has an .915 SV% and a 1.95GAA versus Regina…The Broncos sit in 4th place in the East Division, 1 point behind the Moose Jaw Warriors, 6 points behind the Brandon Wheat Kings and 7 points behind the Regina Pats…Next action for the Club is Wednesday night when the Red Deer Rebels travel to Swift Current.

LAST GAME: The Broncos saw their 3 game winning streak snapped last night in Brandon falling to the Wheat Kings by a score of 4-1…Keegan Dansereau scored the lone Broncos goal, assisted by Zack Smith and Levi Nelson…Broncos netminder Travis Yonkman took the loss in net, turning aside 32 of 36 shots…The Club finished 0 for 4 on the man advantage, while the Wheat Kings went 0 for 3…Newly acquired Bretton Stamler, Jesse Dudas, and Mark Guggenberger all dressed in a Broncos uniform for the first time…Stamler, a 20-year-old defensemen and former captain of the Edmonton Oil Kings, wore an ‘A’ in his first game with his new team…With the loss the Broncos stay one point behind Moose Jaw for 3rd place in the East Division and 7th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 22-18-0-5 good for 49 points.

NUMBERS: Zack Smith picked up an assist in last night’s contest to move his point total to 46 (17 G, 29 A)…Smith continues to lead the Broncos in the points department and sits tied for 15th place in points amongst WHL skaters…Levi Nelson is on a 4 game point streak, with points in 7 of his last 8 games (5 G, 5 A)…Keegan Dansereau recorded the Broncos lone goal against the Wheat Kings last night. He has now recorded points in 3 of his last 4 games (2G, 2A)…Eric Doyle saw his 3 game point streak snapped last night. TRANSACTIONS: On Thursday’s WHL trade deadline, the Broncos sent 17-year-old goaltender Ian Curtis to the Prince George Cougars for 19-year-old defensemen Jesse Dudas and forward prospect Catlin Foley. In addition, the Broncos acquired 18-year-old goaltender Mark Guggenberger from the Portland Winter Hawks for a conditional 2009 draft pick…The Broncos also made a trade on January 9th, sending 20-year-old defenseman R.J. LaRochelle to the Vancouver Giants for future considerations and acquired 20-year-old defensemen Bretton Stamler from the Edmonton Oil Kings in exchange for a 3rd Round pick in the 2008 Bantam Draft…With the trades the Broncos roster now consists of 23 players (2 goaltenders, 8 defensemen, 13 forwards).

MILESTONES: Derek Claffey playedhis100th WHL game January 5th versus the Saskatoon Blades; while Eric Doyle will be playing his 150th WHL game tonight…Newly acquired Bretton Stamler has played 305 WHL games.

SPECIAL TEAMS: The Broncos power play is tied for 10th in the WHL and currently operating at 19.0%…The team has scored 48 power play goals on 253 attempts…Dale Weise & David Stieler have 9 power play goals to lead the Broncos, while Michael Wilson has16 power play assists…The Broncos powerplay has now scored only 3 goals in 34 power plays over the last 6 games…On the penalty kill, the Broncos are 16th in the WHL with an 80.9% efficiency rating.

INJURIES: Ryan Molle will miss tonight’s game due to a knee injury.

DRAFTED BRONCOS: Ryan Molle (New Jersey ‘07)…Levi Nelson (Boston ‘06)…Jesse Dudas (Columbus ’06)
