Twice before this year, I have calculated the average age of the players on each team's roster. With all the moves that have been made in the last few weeks, it's time to figure it out again:

Edmonton: Avg Age: 18.227 (1)
Moose Jaw: Avg Age: 18.217 (2)
Calgary: Avg Age: 18.174 (T-3)
Spokane: Avg Age: 18.174 (T-3)
Swift Current: Avg Age: 18.174 (T-3)
Everett: Avg Age: 18.167 (6)
Lethbridge: Avg Age: 18.136 (T-7)
Regina: Avg Age: 18.136 (T-7)
Kootenay: Avg Age: 18.13 (9)
Portland: Avg Age: 18.045 (10)
Vancouver: Avg Age: 18.043 (11)
Brandon: Avg Age: 18 (T-12)
Medicine Hat: Avg Age: 18 (T-12)
Kamloops: Avg Age: 17.913 (T-14)
Tri-City: Avg Age: 17.913 (T-14)
Chilliwack: Avg Age: 17.909 (16)
Seattle: Avg Age: 17.905 (17)
Prince Albert: Avg Age: 17.87 (18)
Kelowna: Avg Age: 17.783 (T-19)
Red Deer: Avg Age: 17.783 (T-19)
Saskatoon: Avg Age: 17.783 (T-19)
Prince George: Avg Age: 17.682 (22)

Edmonton is still the oldest team in the league - proof that being older doesn't mean better. Moose Jaw has jumped up from 9th (when I calculated this on December 12) to 2nd. You'd have to say Kelowna is doing pretty well in the standings, for being the 2nd-youngest (tied for that anyway) team in the league. And Prince George has dropped from 10th (on Dec 12th) down to last. The Cougars have actually dropped their average age by almost half a year from what it was back in November.

Here's how it looked on December 12:

Edmonton: Avg age: 18.227 (1)
Everett: Avg age: 18.174 (2)
Kamloops: Avg age: 18.130 (T-3)
Chilliwack: Avg age: 18.130 (T-3)
Lethbridge: Avg age: 18.130 (T-3)
Swift Current: Avg age: 18.091 (6)
Spokane: Avg age: 18.087 (7)
Calgary: Avg age: 18.080 (8)
Moose Jaw: Avg age: 18.043 (9)
Portland: Avg age: 18.042 (T-10)
Medicine Hat: Avg age: 18.042 (T-10)
Prince George: Avg age: 18.042 (T-10)
Prince Albert: Avg age: 18.040 (13)
Kootenay: Avg age: 18.000 (T-14)
Regina: Avg age: 18.000 (T-14)
Brandon: Avg age: 18.000 (T-14)
Saskatoon: Avg age: 18.000 (T-14)
Red Deer: Avg age: 17.917 (T-18)
Vancouver: Avg age: 17.917 (T-18)
Tri-City: Avg age: 17.87 (20)
Seattle: Avg age: 17.818 (21)
Kelowna: Avg age: 17.792 (22)

And how it looked the first time I did it, back on November 6:

Everett: Avg age: 18.217 (1)
Edmonton: Avg age: 18.19 (2)
Chilliwack: Avg age: 18.125 (T-3)
Prince George: Avg age: 18.125 (T-3)
Swift Current: Avg age: 18.091 (5)
Kamloops: Avg age: 18.087 (T-6)
Spokane: Avg age: 18.087 (T-6)
Regina: Avg age: 18.083 (8)
Calgary: Avg age: 18.08 (T-9)
Portland: Avg age: 18.08 (T-9)
Medicine Hat: Avg age: 18.077 (11)
Lethbridge: Avg age: 18.043 (T-12)
Prince Albert: Avg age: 18.043 (T-12)
Moose Jaw: Avg age: 18.042 (14)
Brandon: Avg age: 18 (15)
Kootenay: Avg age: 17.958 (16)
Saskatoon: Avg age: 17.913 (17)
Tri-City: Avg age: 17.875 (T-18)
Vancouver: Avg age: 17.875 (T-18)
Red Deer: Avg age: 17.826 (T-20)
Seattle: Avg age: 17.826 (T-20)
Kelowna: Avg age: 17.783 (22)

Prince George has obviously put a new foot forward with thier youth movement.
Strong, young, talent in the line-up right now and solid leadership with Tyrell and Thiessen.
A great 92 draft with McDonald, Connelly, Hirsche, and Bounissisi. punk rock This team will be one to reckon with in the coming seasons. From what I have heard the 92's WANT to be in Prince George and are excited about the future.

If they didn't trade for Devin Setoguchi the rentel player they could have had Stefan Elliott in there lineup .

Maybe not. One of the reasons why they were willing to trade Elliott in the first place was that he was refusing to play for the Cougars.

I don't get why he would refuse too play for the Cougs before even playing a game in the WHL. Plus his hometown is Vancouver PG is alot closer too his home than Saskatoon is.

Vancouver may be closer, but it's the drive to every other WHL city that is the problem.

Im not so sure if i belive that or not why would he refuse to go to PG pg just had too pay the price too get Seto and Elliott is what we got back in return probablly gonna be the best d-man in the league when he's 18

Ever heard of LINDROS??? These kids do not realize the opportunity and privilege they have, nor do some appreciate it. vc124

Lindros situation was differant he was about to start his career in the NHL. Elliott's is strange he ws about to join the WHL can't even get his learners license yet he shouldn't have a choice. Plus i never heard anything about him refusing to report to PG.

Thus making the Lindros situation even worse. Spoiled rotten, I suspect.

Actually, Lindros was also drafted by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the OHL, and refused to go to his Jr. team as well, and was subsequently traded to the Oshawa Generals. His refusal to join the Nordique was not a new thing for him.

It looks like we jumped right up there when we added our third 20 yr old, so to be balanced this would have to take into account whether or not the team has it's full complement of OA players and maybe they should not be considered part of the equation at all, as Edmonton (as an expansion) team is able to carry five 20's.

But it is interesting, and the teams are all pretty close it seems.

Elliott is more offensive by a mile if he can put on more muscle it's gonna be scary

PG Traded for Seto because they wanted a good playoff run. One cannot ignore the fact that Seto was a huge factor in thier 3rd round playoff run. Thats why PG did it, Seto has always been a playoff guy. He led in playoffs for scoring when he was with the blades. Elliott and a 1st was an excellent oppertunity for Lorne. PG knew they had a god future as well. Good trade for both teams. Without Elliott, the Blades would be looking grim.
