PORTLAND, Ore. -- Shutouts have been few and far between for Everett Silvertips goaltender Leland Irving this season. But Sunday night Irving got the shutout and more.

Irving stopped all 25 shots he faced and also tallied his first assist of the season, leading the Silvertips to a 5-0 victory over the Portland Winter Hawks.

Irving is Everett's career leader in shutouts, and last season he racked up a staggering total of 11. But Sunday's shutout was just his second of the season. He now has 19 career shutouts.

While shutouts have been rare for Irving this season, assists have been even rarer over the course of his career. His assist on Everett's fourth goal was just his third career point.

Jordan Mistelbacher and Shane Harper each had a goal and an assist to lead Everett's offense. Dan Gendur, Kyle Beach and Matt Ius scored the other goals for the Tips (24-20-0-2), who have had their way in Memorial Coliseum this season. It was Everett's third straight five-goal victory in Portland.

Jordan White stopped 34 shots in goal for Portland (8-33-0-1).

Everett grabbed the lead 4 minutes, 54 seconds into the game. The Tips broke three-one-one, with Zach Hamill feeding Gendur coming down the right for the goal, giving Everett a 1-0 lead.

It took a while, but Everett finally doubled its lead late in the second period. Beach got a loose puck behind the Portland net and wrapped it around the post before White had a chance to close the gap, making it 2-0 at 17:22.

The Tips then turned it into a rout in the third.

Ius made it 3-0 1:26 into the period, taking advantage of a Portland turnover deep in the Portland zone and making a move around White.

Mistelbacher scored on the power play at 8:05 to make it 4-0. He carried the puck into the zone, made a move around one defender and although his shot was saved by White, he was able to put in his own rebound.

Harper completed the scoring with 1:43 remaining. Mistelbacher fired a shot on the rush that was saved, but Harper put in the rebound to make it 5-0.

Nice Job! We have yet to get a shut out and the worse thing is we lost to them awhile back!
