The Kamloops Blazers took full advantage of home ice on Friday night at the ISC as they ran their winning streak on home ice to 5 games and pushed their overall total to 3 games. The final score was 5-2.
Alex Rodgers had a pair of goals and Juuso Puustinen chipped in with a goal and two helpers. Tack on Ivan Rohac's 3 assist night and the big line for the Blazers proved to be to much for a young Cougars squad. The trio has now combined for 17 points in their past two games.
It was a 2-1 game after the first but Kamloops came out of the gates rolling in the second and before the second period was 4:03 old the Blazers had a 4-1 lead. The shots after 40 were 24-9 in favor of the Blazers.
Jan Kupec and Jimmy Bubnick traded goals in the 3rd period. The Bubnick goal was particularly nice as Nick Ross picked the puck up in his own end and wound it up through the neutral zone, after a couple of nifty moves Ross split the D and had great chance that was poked away by Real Cyr, Bubnick however followed up the play and roofed the rebound over the glove of Cyr. That goal was a big one as it came just over a minute after Kupec had cut the lead to 4-2.
Puustinen was the third star, Jordan Rowley was the second star and with a pair of goals Alex Rodgers was named the games first star.
The final shots were 38-18 in favor of the Blazers. Justin Leclerc improves to 16-17-1-0 on the year with the win, while Real Cyr falls to 7-17-1-1.
With the win Kamloops improves to 22-23-1-1 on the year and move into a 3-way tie for 6th place with Chilliwack who lost in Kelowna and Seattle who tied after 40 minutes in Spokane.
This all sets up the big game tomorrow night in Chilliwack as the Blazers tangle with Bruins at 7pm.

This was a very entertaining game to take in tonight. The Blazers came out with a good effort, with the exception of the first 5 minutes but then took over. Biggest Highlight of the night was a big hit delivered by newcomer Nick Ross at the Blazer blueline, that sent the crowd into a frenzie. But a good game tonight that sets up a big one in Chilliwack the tomorrow.
