Medicine Hat 6 Edmonton Oil Kings 1

Besides the first 5 minutes of play the tigers came to play tonight.

Edmonton was hitting everything and really came out and played a solid first period, but fell pretty flat the rest of the game. Oil Kings gave the tigers waaay to much room to move, Archibald kept them in the game, in the first period.

Hickmott and Frazee were given lots of icetime tonight, and they both ended the game with a goal.

Frazee had a breakaway right after stepping out of the penalty box, and just managed to squeeze the puck in.

Wacey Hamilton also had a good game. Wacey Hamilton had an ennis like goal and walked around 3 players, scoring with the goaltender on his knees.

Patrick Kozyra took on Oil King Brett Breitkreuz In a second period scrap.
It was a gooder, both players landed some solid shots. I'd give the decision to Kozyra. He had breitkreuz at his mercy throwing uppercuts when the refs stepped in. Highlights from the game are already up on Tigers TV.

About a minute after the the Color Guy was talking about preserving the "gooseegg" for Holfeld, the Oil Kings scored on the PP. vc124

Another tough 3 games in 3 nights weekend coming up vs Regina,Kelowna, and a rematch vs Edmonton.

EDMONTON - With sniper Tyler Ennis out of the line-up, some may have wondered how much firepower the Medicine Hat Tigers would have Tuesday.

But the Tigers had plenty of bang on their home ice when they smoked the Edmonton Oil Kings 6-1 in Western Hockey League action.

Ennis, who is sixth in WHL scoring with 61 points, is in Edmonton for the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game tonight.

The Oil Kings had trouble from the get-go and were outshot 9-3 in the first five minutes of the game. The Tigers continued their domination, outshooting Edmonton 29-15 after 40 minutes.

"They've won championships, and are very well-coached and they showed us how to play tonight," Oil Kings head coach Steve Pleau said after the game.

"We didn't get pucks behind their D, turned pucks over and they exposed us."

The Tigers got on the scoresheet when Thomas Frazee came out of the penalty box and zoomed down the wing on Oil Kings goalie Alex Archibald. Archibald thought he had the puck smothered but it trickled over the goal-line.

Archibald stoned Yashar Farmanara on a first-period breakaway when Farmanara went to the backhand.

Early in the second period, Farmanara rang one off both goalposts.

Medicine Hat went up 2-0 five minutes into the middle session when Mark Isherwood banked one off the chest of Archibald.

Right off the next faceoff, Oil Kings forward Robin Figren gained the Tiger zone and winged one off the crossbar.

Wacey Hamiton scored his first when he put a nice deke on Archibald to make it 3-0. The third Medicine Hat marker was the 20th shot on Archibald, who was yanked in favour of Dalyn Flette.

Four minutes later, Brennan Bosch -- who also had two assists -- popped a power-play goal to make it 4-0.

The Tigers added third-period goals from Leduc native Jordan Bendfeld and Jordan Hickmott.

Brent Raedeke of the Oil Kings spoiled Medicine Hat goaltender Ryan Holfeld's shutout bid with 51 seconds left. Raedeke scored his 12th of the season.

With the Oil Kings loss and the Swift Current Broncos beating the Moose Jaw Warriors 7-4, Edmonton is now 11 points out of the playoffs.

CASTLE CHATTER: Oil Kings rookie forward Tomas Vincour sat the game out due to an undisclosed injury... The Tigers have a waiting list of 3,000 for season tickets.
