Rising

Aaron Ness -- Roseau HS (USHS)

Position: LD Height: 5.09 Weight: 157

There is a lot of interest in this skilled puck-moving defenseman and rightfully so. While most NHL scouts were arriving back from the WJC in Sweden, more than a few could be seen at the Roseau High School game.

With about a dozen NHL scouts including ISS watching, Ness didn’t disappoint collecting two 'Highlight reel' assists. Plays above and beyond this level.

Electrifying! Best player on the ice. Excellent skater. Feet will be an asset. Potential star. This is a player to watch. You win with guys like this.

Anthony Nigro -- Guelph Storm (OHL)

Position: C Height: 6.00.25 Weight: 189

Nigro is one of the most improved players in the OHL since the start of the season. This young man has become much more confident and as a result, has been one of Guelph's better forwards. Skates well. Not an overly creative player, but he does a few things well, which include jumping into holes and going to the net with his stick on the ice, and working hard for the second and third chances. His defensive side of the game has been excellent, and he is always committed to taking care of that. Great character.

Kurtis Bartliff -- Listowel (Mid-Western Ont.Jr. B)

Position: LW Height: 6.00 Weight: 180

Draft sleeper! This young man has the package of skills. Bigger than listed, he is close to 6'1 and 190 lbs. There are a few reasons why he is leading this league in goals. First, he is a great skater and he uses his speed well in all three zones; it is not only an asset off the rush, but allows him to be very good on the back check. Second, he is strong and does not shy away from driving the lanes and going hard to the net. He works very hard at getting to the net and looking for loose pucks. Third, he has nice hands and nice touch around the net.

Chet Pickard -- Tri-City (WHL)

Position: G Height: 6.02 Weight: 206

Is a big, strong, athletic goalie who competes hard. Has had the opportunity over the past few years to back up possibly the best junior in the world Carey Price. This year as the No. 1 Pickard has shaken off a slow start to bring the supposedly rebuilding Tri-City Americans to a top ten national ranking and be a legitimate title contender. He is good technically but it needs maturing. Excellent fitness level. Will turn heads if invited to the combine. Can play the puck well. Has great composure. Is in definite vein of Price. Is a big part of Americans success and is playing virtually every night and showing no fatigue.

Joey Haddad – Cape Breton Screaming Eagles (QMJHL)

Position: LW Height: 6.02 Weight: 189

One of the biggest surprises in the QMJHL this year has to be the improved play of Cape Breton’s hard rock LW Joey Haddad. We can see this guy as a 3rd or 4th line grinding forward at the next level... very physical, had a Gordie Howe hat trick recently...Possible late-round pick in second year of eligibility.

Maxime Sauve -- Val d'Or Foreurs (QMJHL)

Position: C Height: 5.11.5 Weight: 170

One of the best skaters eligible from QMJHL. Was one of his best performances, showed that he can be creative 1 on 1... showed quick hand on goal in tight. Traded from Quebec to Val d’Or; not playing on line with Esposito and Tessier, therefore is getting the chance to carry puck more often and has looks good.

Tyler Beskorowany -- Owen Sound (OHL)

Position: G Height: 6.04 Weight: 203

This young man gave scouts a good reason to watch the entire game. Great size, challenges the shooter and moves very well. Kept this very young Owen Sound team in the game. Apart from 2 goals in 35 seconds, was the main reason why this game remained close.

Zach Fenwick -- Kingston Frontenacs

Position: LD Height: 6.00 Weight: 200

Big strong defender who recently left Mercyhurst to play with Kingston is adjusting well to the OHL, seing time in all situations. Moves the puck hard and will be a player to watch as he become more comfortable with the OHL style of play.

Jared Festler -- Lincoln Stars (USHL)

Position: LW Height: 5.09 Weight: 170

Festler displayed both excellent skating and nifty moves in conjunction with solid stickhandling/passing skills. He goes hard all over the ice and uses his stick well to strip the puck from opposing players. Appears to be more of a finesse player than a physical player... Good talent.

Falling

Tomas Knotek -- Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL)

Position: C Height: 6.01 Weight: 163

Knotek has all the skills to be a good NHL prospect except skating; we had hoped that this would have improved, but it has been noted that mechanics are to blame for lack of speed. This will limit Knotek’s pro upside.

Patrice Cormier -- Rimouski Oceanic (QMJHL)

Position: C Height: 6.01.5 Weight: 201

Cormier has a good combination of size, skating and hands. Injuries have hampered his development. Now we are starting to believe that he cannot stay healthy and it has become a concern.

Wow Teubert has sure fallen, and i also thought maybe Niemi would crack the top 30 maybe next time we'll see.

hobster: This is International Scouting Services top 30. Niemi is rated by Central Scouting. Although CS and ISS work sorta together they still have different opinions on players. As far as i'm concerned, Niemi is proving all the skeptics wrong and should be on everybodies list.

Any chance you have the top 30 ISS for the up coming bantam draft ?

St. Croix Benson Sproul Stewart and Forsberg are right up there for me and Ryan Murray Ty Rattie and Nugent Hopkins as well as McColgan and Topping stong defence this year

To be fair ISS top 30 is all draft eligible players world wide where Central Scouting usually lists N.A. and Euro players seperate. Either way Niemi is one of the top prospects and if he doesn't go first round i can't see him going past the second.
